Why Growth Triggers Anxiety?

Fear
We’ve been there—feeling excited about the potential for growth, but also deeply anxious about the unknown. The first time we took on a significant project or responsibility, we felt that familiar knot in our stomach. Would we succeed? Could we manage everything on our plate? What if we failed?

A natural response to growth

It's the body’s way of signalling that we are stepping out of our comfort zones, embracing new challenges, and pushing ourselves to evolve. We don’t grow by staying where we are; we grow by facing the discomfort that comes with change. And that’s where anxiety plays a role—it motivates us, sharpens our focus, and pushes us to prepare for what's ahead.

Take a few moments
When we face challenges at work, we carry those lessons with us into our personal lives. And when we push ourselves to grow personally—whether it’s building healthier habits or pursuing new passions—we bring that renewed confidence and resilience back to our work. The more we embrace growth and the anxiety that comes with it, the more we become equipped to handle change and uncertainty in all areas of our lives.

Self Compassion

Treating ourselves with the same kindness and understanding that we’d offer a good friend going through a tough time. It’s about acknowledging that we’re human, and just like everyone else, we’ll have setbacks, make mistakes, and experience doubt. Instead of being hard on ourselves, self-compassion encourages us to offer care and support, especially when things get tough.

Reflecting on Growth and Anxiety

Looking back, we realize that growth often came when we faced the impossible. The moments that felt overwhelming, filled with doubt and anxiety, were the ones that stretched us the most. It’s in those moments of discomfort that we found our strength and unlocked new possibilities. Growth isn’t about avoiding challenges; it’s about embracing them and proving that what seems impossible is just the beginning of something extraordinary.
